Dental website procurement scorecard
Compare up to three dental website proposals on ownership, GDC compliance, data protection, speed, accessibility, enquiry handling and terms. Deal-breakers are flagged automatically.
How to use it
Name each proposal, then answer every question from the proposal or the supplier's written reply. Leave anything unconfirmed as "Not asked yet". The reasons behind each question are in the guide to buying a dental website. Nothing you enter leaves your browser.
Scorecard
Ownership
Will the domain be registered in the practice's name, on an account you control? Deal-breaker
Ask directly if the domain is included in a package.
Will the practice hold an administrator login to the website platform and hosting? Deal-breaker
Not just an editor account.
Do you own, or hold a permanent licence to, the design, text and photos?
Including after the contract ends.
Is a full export of the site on exit written into the contract?
With a format and a time limit.
Compliance
Does the proposal include everything the GDC requires a practice website to show?
Address, contacts, GDC link, complaints procedure, last-updated date, qualifications and GDC numbers.
Will the cookie banner block optional tags until visitors agree?
Analytics and advertising tags included.
If they host forms or store enquiries, will they sign a data processing agreement? Deal-breaker
Required by UK GDPR where they process data for you.
Quality
Do they commit to Core Web Vitals targets on mobile for key pages?
Loading under 2.5 s, responsiveness under 200 ms, layout shift under 0.1.
Do they design and test to WCAG 2.2 level AA?
Ask how they test, not just whether.
Enquiries
Does the plan include tap-to-call, short forms with confirmation, and booking that works on a phone?
See the booking and enquiry checklist.
Will calls and form enquiries be measurable by source, with consent?
So you know which marketing produced them.
Terms
Are the build cost, monthly charges, VAT and minimum term stated in writing?
Compare the cost over the full minimum term.
